Paint Care
First 30 days after fresh paint:
-
Hand wash vehicle when using cool water and gentle nonabrasive car soap. Only use clean, soft microfiber cloth or sponges to avoid scratching paint.
-
Do not use commercial car washes that use brushes; if necessary, a touchless car wash is the only acceptable alternative. Please see the Referrals, Rentals, and Towing section if you need help looking for adequate car washes.
-
Park in a garage or shaded area as frequently as possible to protect from sun and/or environmental fallout. Avoid parking under trees or near construction. Clean off bird droppings, sap, dirt, bug residue and any other contaminants as soon as possible with cool clean water and microfiber cloth or sponge.
-
Do not use abrasive cleaners, rubbing compounds, polishes or harsh chemicals as they can damage or dull the paint before it fully cures.
-
Handle freshly painted areas carefully. Avoid leaking or placing objects on surface to avoid dents, scratches, or imprints.
-
Do not use snow scrapers or brushes on freshly painted surfaces as they can easily scratch.
First 90 days after fresh paint:
-
Do not use any waxes, polishes, or sealants on any newly painted surface.
